Jeremiah 49

Jehovah

Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me. Jeremiah 49:11

Even in judgment on Edom, Jehovah invites the most helpless to trust Him and promises to keep their children alive. The premortal Christ is the protector of orphans and widows.

But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 49:39

Jehovah ends His judgment on Elam (and on Ammon, v. 6) with a latter-day promise of restoration, showing His mercy toward the nations.
