The blood of the Just

For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her, Lamentations 4:13

Jerusalem's leaders shed the blood of righteous people. The same city would later shed the blood of the Just One, Jesus Christ.

The anointed of the LORD

Messiah - the Anointed One

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen. Lamentations 4:20

'Anointed' is mashiach, Messiah. The people trusted their anointed king, Zedekiah, to shelter them, and he was captured. Every failed anointed king points to the true Anointed One, under whose shadow God's people really can live.

Jehovah

The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins. Lamentations 4:22

The book's first ray of dawn: Zion's punishment has an end, and the LORD promises no more captivity. It looks toward the comfort Isaiah announces, which Christ brings.
