Jehovah, eternal King

Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation. Lamentations 5:19

Jerusalem's throne has fallen, but Jehovah's throne lasts forever. The New Testament applies this truth to the Son, whose throne is for ever and ever (Hebrews 1:8).

Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. Lamentations 5:21

The people know they cannot even repent without the Lord's help. They ask Him to turn them, which is a plea for the enabling grace that comes through Christ.
