Psalms 102

Second Coming

But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. Psalms 102:12–16

At the appointed time the LORD will build up Zion and appear in glory, and the nations will fear His name. Latter-day Saints see this in the gathering and building of Zion that prepares for Jesus Christ's glorious Second Coming.

Redeemer

This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. Psalms 102:18–22

The LORD looks down to hear prisoners and free those condemned to death, and this is written for a future generation. Christ proclaimed liberty to the captives, and after His death He declared liberty to the spirits in prison.

Creation by Christ

Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. Psalms 102:25–27

Hebrews quotes these verses as what God says 'unto the Son': He laid the earth's foundation, made the heavens, and stays the same forever. The eternal, unchanging Creator here is Jesus Christ, 'the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.'
