Leviticus 20

Jehovah

And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. Leviticus 20:3–6

Jehovah, the premortal Christ, personally opposes those who give their children to Molech or turn to wizards, because it profanes His holy name and sanctuary.

Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 20:7–8

Israel is asked to sanctify themselves, yet it is the LORD who actually makes them holy. Latter-day Saints understand that this sanctifying power comes through the grace and shed blood of Christ (Moroni 10:33).

Jehovah claims Israel as His own covenant people, set apart to be holy like Him — the relationship that the Savior's covenant people still hold.
