Leviticus 21

Jehovah

They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. Leviticus 21:6–8

Priests who offer "the bread of their God" must be holy because Jehovah, the premortal Christ, is holy and is the One who sanctifies them.

Great High Priest

And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes; Leviticus 21:10–15

The high priest is anointed (the meaning of "Messiah" and "Christ"), set apart from defilement, and stands for the people before God. He is a type of Jesus Christ, the anointed Great High Priest who is holy and undefiled and who ministers for us before the Father.

Great High Priest

Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. Leviticus 21:17–23

Only a priest without blemish could pass to the veil and the altar. This softly points to Jesus Christ, the only perfect Priest, who could enter God's presence on our behalf.
