Resurrection

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. Matthew 28:5–6

An angel announces that the crucified Jesus is risen, just as He said, and calls Him the Lord. The empty tomb shows His promise has come true.

Resurrection

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. Matthew 28:7–8

The angel sends the women to tell the disciples He is risen and will meet them in Galilee, repeating Jesus' own promise from the night before His death.

Resurrection

Resurrection

Resurrection

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. Matthew 28:16–17

The risen Christ declares that all power in heaven and earth has been given Him by the Father. He now reigns over all, as Daniel saw the Son of Man receive everlasting dominion.

Take His Name

Jesus sends His apostles to all nations to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Baptism is how people covenant to follow Him and take His name.

Matthew's Gospel ends with Jesus promising to be with His disciples always. The book that began by naming Him Emmanuel, God with us, closes with Him fulfilling that name.
