Sacrament — the flesh and blood of Christ

The manner of their elders and priests administering the flesh and blood of Christ unto the church; and they administered it according to the commandments of Christ; wherefore we know the manner to be true; and the elder or priest did minister it— Moroni 4:1

The sacrament bread and wine represent the flesh and blood of Christ, and the Nephites administered it exactly as Christ commanded when He visited them.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

  • alludes to 3 Nephi 18:5-7 — Christ institutes the sacrament bread among the Nephites in remembrance of His body.
  • alludes to Luke 22:19 — Jesus institutes the bread at the Last Supper: this is my body.

Take upon them the name of thy Son

And they did kneel down with the church, and pray to the Father in the name of Christ, saying: Moroni 4:2–3

In the sacrament prayer we pray to the Father in the name of His Son, eat in remembrance of Jesus' body, and witness that we are willing to take His name, always remember Him, and keep His commandments. The promise is His Spirit with us.
