Psalms 130

Jehovah (the LORD)

Jehovah — the premortal Jesus Christ, the covenant God of Israel

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Psalms 130:1–6

The psalmist cries to Jehovah, the premortal Christ, knowing that no one could stand if sins were simply counted, but that forgiveness is found with Him.

Redeemer of Israel

Redeemer — one who buys back and frees

Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. Psalms 130:7–8

Redemption from sin itself, not just from enemies, is the work of the Redeemer. Latter-day Saints see here Jehovah's promise fulfilled when Jesus gave Himself to redeem His people from all iniquity.
