Titus 2

The Grace of God That Bringeth Salvation Hath Appeared

Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. Titus 2:10–11

God's saving grace "appeared" when Christ came into the world. Verse 13 goes on to name Jesus Christ as our Saviour.

Glorious Appearing of Our Saviour Jesus Christ

Christians live looking forward to Christ's glorious return. The wording can also be read as calling Jesus Himself "the great God and our Saviour".

He Gave Himself to Redeem Us

Redeemer — one who buys back and sets free

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14

Jesus gave His life to buy us back from sin and make us His own special, covenant people. The words once used of Jehovah's people Israel now describe Christ's people.
