The Mighty God

Mighty God (El, Elohim, Jehovah) — the LORD in His power

The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. Psalms 50:1

The psalm names the speaker 'the mighty God, even the LORD.' Isaiah gives 'The mighty God' as a name of the child to be born, Jesus Christ.

Our God Shall Come

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Psalms 50:2–5

God comes in fire to gather His saints who have covenanted by sacrifice, then judges. Latter-day revelation describes Christ's coming as a melting fire and names those who keep covenants by sacrifice as accepted of Him.

God the Judge

And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah. Psalms 50:6

God Himself is the Judge. Jesus taught that the Father has committed all judgment unto the Son.

Jehovah on True Sacrifice

Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God. Psalms 50:7–15

Jehovah speaks: He does not need animals, which were never the real payment for sin; He wants thanks, kept vows and prayer. The animal sacrifices pointed beyond themselves to Christ's offering.

The Salvation of God

Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Psalms 50:23

God promises to show 'the salvation of God' to the one who lives rightly. Simeon, holding the infant Jesus, said, 'mine eyes have seen thy salvation.'
