Jehovah (the LORD), the healer who delivers the soul

Jehovah — the covenant name, 'I AM,' the eternal One

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. Psalms 6:2–4

David pleads with the LORD for mercy, healing, and deliverance of his soul. Latter-day Saints know Jehovah is Jesus Christ, whose Atonement heals the weak and delivers souls.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

My soul is troubled

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? Psalms 6:3

David's soul is deeply troubled. As His hour approached, Jesus used nearly the same words, 'Now is my soul troubled,' so the psalmist's anguish softly echoes the Savior's.

Christ the Judge: 'Depart from me'

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. Psalms 6:8

Jesus takes these very words and uses them as the Judge at the last day for those who knew Him not. The psalmist's line becomes the Savior's judgment sentence.
