Psalms 62

Rock

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. Psalms 62:2–7

David calls God his only rock and salvation. Helaman teaches that the sure foundation is the rock of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, so this title points to Him.

How we know: a footnote points to Him

• the same title in Helaman 5:12 — Build upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ.
• the same title in 1 Corinthians 10:4 — That Rock was Christ.

Judgment

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. Psalms 62:12

Mercy and just judgment belong to the Lord. The New Testament repeats this idea and places the judging in the hands of the Son.
