Jehovah

Jehovah (LORD) — the covenant name, 'I AM'; the premortal Christ

For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. Zechariah 2:5

Jerusalem will need no stone walls because the LORD Himself will be her protecting wall of fire and her glory within. It anticipates the Zion where Christ is both defense and light.

Jehovah, Sent by the Father

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. Zechariah 2:8–9

The speaker, who is himself called the LORD, says 'the LORD of hosts hath sent me.' Latter-day Saints recognize the Son, Jehovah, sent by the Father, and hear His tender love: harming His people is like poking the pupil of His eye.

Emmanuel

Emmanuel — God with us

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD. Zechariah 2:10–11

The LORD promises, 'lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee,' and nations will join His people. Jesus fulfilled this when He came and dwelt among us in mortality, and will fulfill it fully when He reigns with His people after His Second Coming.

Second Coming

Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. Zechariah 2:13

All people are told to fall silent because the LORD has risen from His holy dwelling to act. It anticipates the reverent awe when the Lord comes forth in power.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)
