The LORD who redeemed my soul

Redeemer — one who buys back and sets free

And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress, 1 Kings 1:29–30

David swears by the living LORD who redeemed his soul from every trouble. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, is Israel's Redeemer, and He redeems souls through His Atonement.

Solomon, the anointed Son of David, enters riding

Messiah — the Anointed One; Solomon — peaceable

The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon: 1 Kings 1:33–40

Solomon, the chosen son of David, is anointed king (the meaning of Messiah) and rides on the king's own animal into Jerusalem while crowds shout and rejoice. Jesus, the greater Son of David and Prince of Peace, likewise rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while the people hailed Him as King.

One to sit on David's throne

And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. 1 Kings 1:46–48

The blessing that Solomon's name and throne would be greater than David's is only fully true of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, whose name is above every name and whose throne lasts forever.

Refuge at the horns of the altar

And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar. 1 Kings 1:50–53

Adonijah runs to the altar of sacrifice for safety and receives mercy from the king. The altar pictures Christ's sacrifice as the place where guilty people can flee for refuge, though mercy still requires a changed life (worthy man, v. 52).
