Power and Resurrection of Christ

Christ — the Anointed One

I say unto thee, my son, that the plan of restoration is requisite with the justice of God; for it is requisite that all things should be restored to their proper order. Behold, it is requisite and just, according to the power and resurrection of Christ, that the soul of man should be restored to its body, and that every part of the body should be restored to itself. Alma 41:2

The restoration of body and spirit happens by Christ's power and because He rose. The whole plan of restoration hangs on Him.

How we know: the verse itself names Him · the chapter heading names Him

• the same event in Alma 40:2-3 — He bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead.
• the same event in Alma 11:43-44 — Body and spirit restored to their perfect frame.

Redeemer

Redeemer — one who buys back and sets free

These are they that are redeemed of the Lord; yea, these are they that are taken out, that are delivered from that endless night of darkness; and thus they stand or fall; for behold, they are their own judges, whether to do good or do evil. Alma 41:7

Those who repent and desire righteousness are the redeemed of the Lord, rescued from endless darkness. The Lord who redeems them is Jesus Christ.

• alludes to Isaiah 51:11 — The redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion.
• alludes to Psalm 107:2 — Let the redeemed of the LORD say so.

The Way

Now, the decrees of God are unalterable; therefore, the way is prepared that whosoever will may walk therein and be saved. Alma 41:8

The prepared way of salvation is Christ Himself and His doctrine. Anyone who chooses may walk in it.

How we know: the chapter heading names Him

• alludes to 2 Nephi 31:21 — Nephi: this is the way; and there is none other way... whereby man can be saved.
• alludes to John 14:6 — Jesus: I am the way, the truth, and the life.
• alludes to 2 Nephi 9:41 — The way for man is narrow, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel.

Words of Jesus echoed — the merciful obtain mercy

Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again. Alma 41:14

Alma's promise that the merciful receive mercy back is the same truth Jesus taught in the Beatitudes, both in Galilee and to the Nephites.
