After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. John 7:1
Jesus stays in Galilee because leaders in Judea want Him dead. He will go to His death only at His Father's appointed time.

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? John 7:19–23
Jesus confronts the plot to kill Him over healing the man at Bethesda. If circumcision can be done on the Sabbath, surely making a man completely whole can be.

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? John 7:25–27
The people of Jerusalem wonder whether Jesus is the Christ, but they reason that they know where He comes from. They do not realize He came from the Father.

Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. John 7:28–29
Answering their doubts about where He came from, Jesus cries out that He is from the Father and knows Him personally.

No one could arrest Jesus before the hour His Father appointed. His death would be His to give.

Jesus foretells that He will soon return to the Father through His death, Resurrection, and Ascension. His listeners misunderstand and think He means traveling to the Gentiles.

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. John 7:37–38
On the feast's great last day, when water was carried to the temple each day in thanksgiving, Jesus stands and cries that He is the source of the water. Whoever comes to Him is filled and becomes a spring of life to others.

Some recognize Jesus as "the Prophet" Moses promised, who, like Moses bringing water from the rock, gives water to God's people.

Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? John 7:41–42
The objectors quote the right prophecies but miss the facts: Jesus was of David's line and was born in Bethlehem. Their own argument unknowingly testifies that He is the Christ.

So there was a division among the people because of him. John 7:43–46
The officers sent to arrest Jesus return empty-handed, overcome by His words: no one ever spoke like Him.

Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? John 7:48–52
The Pharisees scorn the idea that any leader believes in Jesus, while Nicodemus, a leader who came to Jesus by night, quietly defends Him. Their claim that no prophet comes from Galilee overlooks Isaiah's promise of a great light there.
