Only Begotten Son

Only Begotten — the only Son born of the Father in the flesh

Thus saith the Lord; for I am God, and have sent mine Only Begotten Son into the world for the redemption of the world, and have decreed that he that receiveth him shall be saved, and he that receiveth him not shall be damned— Doctrine and Covenants 49:5

These words are spoken as the Father: He sent His Only Begotten Son to redeem the world, and whoever receives the Son is saved.

Son of Man

Men treated the Son of Man however they pleased, rejecting and crucifying Him.

Ascended Christ and Second Coming

The risen Christ now reigns at God's right hand and will come down to earth to conquer every enemy, but no one knows the day or hour.

The missionaries are to teach, as Peter did, faith in the Lord Jesus who lived on earth, will return, and is eternal.

Faith, repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ bring remission of sins, then the gift of the Holy Ghost, the doctrine of Christ.

Correcting the Shaker belief that Christ had already returned in a woman (Ann Lee), the Lord teaches His coming will not be as a woman or a wandering man but in glory.

Second Coming (signs)

Jehovah, Guard Before and Behind

Behold, I will go before you and be your rearward; and I will be in your midst, and you shall not be confounded. Doctrine and Covenants 49:27

Isaiah's promise that the LORD goes before and behind Israel is spoken here by the One who names Himself Jesus Christ in the next verse: Jehovah is Jesus.
