Jehovah

Jehovah — the covenant name of the premortal Christ, 'I AM'

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Ezekiel 18:21–23

Jehovah, the premortal Jesus Christ, promises that when a sinner truly turns away, his sins will not even be mentioned again. He does not want anyone to be lost; He wants them to come back and live, which is the heart of the repentance His Atonement makes possible.

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Ezekiel 18:30–32

The Lord pleads with Israel to repent and receive a new heart and a new spirit, asking 'why will ye die?' Latter-day Saints recognize this change of heart as what happens when people are spiritually reborn through Jesus Christ.
