Ezekiel 3

Jehovah

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. Ezekiel 3:1–11

Jehovah has His prophet take His word inside himself before he speaks it. The word was sweet as honey even though its message was hard.

How we know: the verse itself names Him

Glory of the LORD

Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place. Ezekiel 3:12–14

Heaven praises the glory of Jehovah, and His strong hand carries the prophet to the captives.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Ezekiel 3:16–21

Jehovah sets watchmen to warn His people because He wants the wicked to turn and live. Messages from His servants are really warnings 'from me.'

How we know: the verse itself names Him

Jehovah appearing in glory

And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee. Ezekiel 3:22–24

The same glorious Lord Ezekiel saw in chapter 1 appears again and stands before him. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, comes personally to His prophet.

He that hath ears, let him hear

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 3:27

Jehovah leaves every hearer free to choose. Jesus used the same kind of call in His mortal ministry and in His messages to the churches.
