Isaiah 25

Jehovah

Jehovah — the covenant name, rendered LORD; the premortal Jesus Christ

O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1–4

The prophet praises the Lord as strength to the poor and a refuge from the storm and shade from the heat. Jehovah, the premortal Christ, is that shelter.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

Feast of the Lord / Supper of the Lamb

And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. Isaiah 25:6

The LORD of hosts will prepare a rich feast for all peoples on His mountain. Latter-day revelation describes the gospel and the supper of the Lord in these very words, and Revelation calls it the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Victory over Death

And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. Isaiah 25:7–8

He will remove the veil of darkness over the nations and swallow up death in victory. Paul quotes this about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose victory means death does not have the last word; He will wipe away every tear.

Second Coming

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25:9

The faithful who waited for their God will recognize Him when He comes and rejoice in His salvation. This joy belongs to those who meet the Savior at His coming.

For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill. Isaiah 25:10

The LORD's protecting hand rests on His holy mountain while the proud are brought down.
