Isaiah 12

Jehovah

Jehovah — the covenant name of God, meaning I AM or He Who Is; the premortal Jesus Christ

And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Isaiah 12:1–2

One of the few places the King James Bible prints the name Jehovah. His anger is turned away and He comforts His people, becoming their strength and salvation. Jehovah is Jesus Christ.

My Salvation

Salvation (Hebrew yeshuah) — from the same root as the name Jesus (Yeshua), meaning Jehovah saves

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

God does not only give salvation, He becomes it. The Hebrew word here shares its root with the name Jesus, the Savior in person.

Wells of salvation

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3

Salvation is pictured as water drawn with joy from a well. Jesus offered Himself as this living water at the Feast of Tabernacles, where water was drawn and poured in celebration.

Holy One of Israel

Holy One of Israel — the holy God who made covenants with Israel

And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Isaiah 12:4–6

The redeemed call on His name and shout because the Holy One of Israel lives among them, as Christ will during the Millennium.
