Psalms 100

Good Shepherd

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalms 100:3

Jehovah is our Maker and the Shepherd whose sheep we are. Jesus Christ created the earth under the Father and called Himself the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

  • the same title in Psalms 95:7 — The people of His pasture, the sheep of His hand.
  • alluded to by John 10:14 — 'I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep.'

Jehovah

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalms 100:4–5

Worshippers enter Jehovah's temple courts giving thanks for His everlasting mercy. That mercy is fully shown in Jesus Christ.
