Psalms 146

Jehovah (the LORD)

Jehovah — the premortal Jesus Christ, the covenant God of Israel

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Psalms 146:5–6

Unlike mortal princes, Jehovah, the Creator, is a help that never fails.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

The LORD who heals and frees

Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: Psalms 146:7–9

The works listed here — feeding the hungry, freeing prisoners, opening blind eyes, raising up the bowed down — are the works Jesus did in His mortal ministry, showing that He is the LORD of this psalm.

The LORD who reigns for ever

The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD. Psalms 146:10

Jehovah, Zion's God, reigns forever, echoing the song Israel sang after crossing the Red Sea.
