Psalms 82

Son of God

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Psalms 82:6

Jesus quoted this verse when the Jews wanted to stone Him for saying He was the Son of God. His point: if scripture calls people to whom God's word came 'gods,' how can it be blasphemy for the One the Father sanctified and sent to say, 'I am the Son of God'?

Judgment

Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations. Psalms 82:8

After unjust judges fail, the psalm pleads for God Himself to judge the earth and take all nations as His inheritance. The Father has committed all judgment to the Son, who is also promised the nations as His inheritance.
