Psalms 98

Savior

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. Psalms 98:1–3

The LORD wins the victory with His holy arm and shows His salvation to every nation. Isaiah uses the same words for the Messiah's redemption. When Simeon held the baby Jesus he said, 'mine eyes have seen thy salvation... a light to lighten the Gentiles,' and Mary sang that God had remembered His mercy to Israel.

King of Kings

With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King. Psalms 98:6

Jehovah is hailed as 'the King' with trumpets, as at a coronation. Jesus Christ is the King of Kings whose coming will be announced with the sound of a trump.

How we know: Jehovah is the premortal Christ (Abraham 1:16; D&C 110:3–4)

Second Coming

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Psalms 98:7–9

The seas roar and the floods clap their hands because the LORD is coming to judge the earth with righteousness. That is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the righteous Judge.
