Passover Lamb

Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. 2 Chronicles 35:1–7

Josiah restores the Passover, when lambs were slain on the fourteenth day of the first month in memory of Israel's deliverance from death in Egypt. The Passover lamb is one of the clearest types of Jesus, who was crucified at Passover as the Lamb whose blood saves us.

Passover Lamb — the sprinkled blood

And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them. 2 Chronicles 35:11–13

The priests sprinkle the lambs' blood and roast the Passover with fire as the law commanded. The sprinkled blood pictures the blood of Christ that cleanses and protects those who come to Him.

And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days. 2 Chronicles 35:17

The week of unleavened bread followed the Passover. Paul teaches that because Christ our Passover was sacrificed, we keep the feast with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth, and Jesus instituted the sacrament at this feast.
