Lord of Hosts

Lord of Hosts — Jehovah, commander of the armies of heaven

In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, Isaiah 28:5–6

In place of Ephraim's fading crown of pride, the LORD of hosts Himself becomes the crown of glory for His faithful remnant.

Jehovah

Jehovah — the covenant name, rendered LORD; the premortal Jesus Christ

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. Isaiah 28:9–13

The LORD teaches doctrine patiently, line upon line, and offers rest to the weary, but the proud refuse to hear. The Lord repeats this pattern of teaching in the Book of Mormon.

Precious Corner Stone

Corner stone — the foundation stone that aligns and holds the whole building

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isaiah 28:16

God lays in Zion a tried, precious corner stone and sure foundation; whoever believes on it will not be shaken. Peter, Paul, and Jacob all identify this stone as Jesus Christ.

Jehovah

For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Isaiah 28:21–22

The LORD will rise up to do His 'strange act.' In latter-day revelation Jesus Christ uses these words for His own latter-day work of restoration and judgment, and the 'consumption decreed' for the nations.

Wonderful Counselor

Wonderful, Counsellor — whose counsel is beyond human wisdom

This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working. Isaiah 28:29

The LORD of hosts is called wonderful in counsel, the same qualities Isaiah gives the promised child whose name is Wonderful, Counsellor. Jehovah and the Messiah are one: Jesus Christ.
