Zechariah 10

Good Shepherd

For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2–3

Israel wanders like sheep with no shepherd, so Jehovah Himself comes to care for His flock. Jesus later looked on the crowds 'as sheep having no shepherd' and came to shepherd them.

Chief Cornerstone

The Corner — the foundation stone that holds the building together; the Nail — the sure peg on which everything hangs

Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together. Zechariah 10:4

From the tribe of Judah comes 'the corner' and 'the nail.' Both are pictures of the Messiah: the cornerstone of God's house and the peg fastened in a sure place that bears the weight of all.

Redeemer

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them. Zechariah 10:6–8

Jehovah promises to save and gather the house of Joseph because He has redeemed them. The Redeemer who gathers scattered Israel in the last days is Jesus Christ.

Taking His Name

And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD. Zechariah 10:12

Gathered Israel will live their lives 'in his name.' Covenant people take the Lord's name upon them and walk in it daily.
