Exodus 6

Jehovah

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. Exodus 6:1

The LORD answers Moses' discouraged prayer with a promise of what He will do. The speaker is Jehovah, the premortal Christ.

God declares His name, JEHOVAH, and says He is the same God who appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Latter-day revelation identifies Jehovah as Jesus Christ, who appeared to Joseph Smith in the Kirtland Temple.

Jehovah says He established His covenant with the patriarchs, hears Israel's groaning, and remembers His promise. The covenant God speaking is the premortal Christ.

Redeemer

Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: Exodus 6:6–8

Jehovah promises to free, rid, and redeem Israel from bondage and take them as His people. The Exodus is the Old Testament's great picture of redemption, fulfilled when Christ the Redeemer frees us from the bondage of sin and death.
